The following computers have been owned and used by Hans Sundgren.
July 2017
Hans' main computer, the 14" Dell Latitude D620 is 11 years old but is still working well. It has been upgraded and has a 500 GB SSD disk since year 2013. The problem is that is runs Windows XP as installed when purchased 2006 and Microsoft does not support that operating system since April 2014. Some software does not run with that OS, for example Google Chrome. Therefore, a new main computer is required.
Hans check both Dell and Lenovo computers and selects the Lenovo T470s because it offers a fast 1 TB SSD disk and Thunderbolt in a slim 14" package. Hans wants to have 2 hard disks in the laptop just as the old Dell has and HP has a model that seems to fit. The media computer is used only for photo and film handling. Invoice, computer

The plan is to use the computer board for a Linux project involving a LAMP web server. Hans buys the computer board from Kjell & Company in Västerås for 399 SEK.
Hans did not get the unit working as expected. The unit is given to a friend that is familiar with Raspberry.
January 2014
Hans buys a new action camera in January, the Garmin VIRB. He discovers that the editing software requires Windows 7 or later, which Hans does not have. So either he must upgrade the media computer from 2007 or get a new media computer. Hans wants to have 2 hard disks in the laptop just as the old Dell has and HP has a model that seems to fit. The media computer is used only for photo and film handling. Registration message | Invoice

Up to now Hans has got two media computer. The old Dell and this HP. The photos and videos has been split on the two computers. From now on Hans wants to use this computer as his main media computer containing photos and videos. One reason is that the old Dell is running on Windows Vista, a now longer supported operating system since 2017. Therefore the new media computer needs more hard disk space and also speed. The SSD disks Samsung 860 Evo 1000GB 2.5" Serial ATA-600, are bought from Dustin 2018-12-30 for SEK 1699.
Hans clones the 2 rotating 750 GB Hitachi (HGST) disks to 2 Samsung SSD disks using Apricorn EZ Gig IV Cloning Software. The switch is made 2019-01-09.
Hans discovers that he needs some additional houndred Gigabyte in order to store all videos on the computer. One of the 1 TB SSD disks are therefore replaced by a 2 TB Samsung 860 Evo bought from Dustin 2019-07-08 for SEK 3677.
Hans clones the existing SSD disk using Apricorn EZ Gig IV Cloning Software. The switch is made 2019-07-09.
Hans wants to use only encrypted backup disks. Therefore, two 4 TB external disks are bought from Dustin for 2×1295 SEK. The disk has 256-bit AES hardware encryption. The encryption can probably be cracked but that is no issue considering the photos and videos stored on the disks.

The 2 hard disks, each 250 GB are rather full and an upgrade is required. So, 500 GB becames 1 TB split on two disks; SEAGATE MOMENTUS 7200.4 2.5" 500GB 7200RPM SATA/300 G-FORCE. The two old disks are cloned with Acronics True Image Home 2011, using an Ace Azure external cabinet for 2.5" SATA disks, connected via USB 2.0.
The D: hard disk of 500 GB that is used for films, and is suddenly full and an upgrade is required. This is most due to the GoPro Hero camera that generates a lot of Gigabytes. So, one diskt of 500 GB is replaced by a 1 TB disk; WESTERN DIGITAL WD10JPVX, manufactured 2013-03-31. The old disk is cloned with Acronics True Image Home 2011, using an Ace Azure external cabinet for 2.5" SATA disks, connected via USB 2.0. SEK 749 hos Kjell.

After having used the Inspiron 8100 from 2001 it was now time to upgrade to a faster computer with USB 2.0. Hans travelled a lot at this time so the computer should be easy to put in a back pack. Therefore, the 14" screen was perfect, still offering 1440 x 900 pixels.
For backup Hans buys 2 Seagate FreeAgent Desktop, 500 MB. The disks are 3,5" and are powered by external adapter.
End of life: 2019-06-30. The disks are still functioning but they are 12 years old and Hans destroys them before leaving them for recycling.

An additional 1 GB of SO-DIMM 667 MHz DDR2 memory was only 350 SEK at this time, compared to 1500 SEK when the computer was bought.
The existing hard disk, from 2007 was full so a new disk was needed. SEAGATE MOMENTUS 7200.4 2.5" 500GB 7200RPM SATA/300 G-FORCE. The old disk was cloned with Acronics True Image Home 2011, using an Ace Azure external cabinet for 2.5" SATA disks, connected via USB 2.0. The cloning took just a couple of hours. SEK 625.
The old disk is destroyed 2019-06-26.
The existing hard disk, from 2011 is still functioning and only 50% full, but Hans wants to improve the speed of the computer. He choses a 500 GB Samsung 840 SSD SATA/600 TLC. The old disk is cloned with Acronics True Image Home 2011, using a Deltaco external cabinet for 2.5" SATA disks, connected via USB 2.0. The cloning takes just a couple of hours. SEK 2649 at Dustin.
