Radio-orienteering WC, Serbia 2012

In September 2012 a team of 11 Swedish radio-orienteers went to Serbia, on the border to Kosovo to participate in the 16th World Championships in ARDF.

Some Swedish runner also participated in the World Cup before the main events and a Foxoring event September 15.

The Swedish Team

The Swedish team consisted of runners from Stockholm and Västerås; 1 M21, 3 M40, 2 M50, 3 M60 and 2 M70. In addition the chairman of the jury was Swedish and Sweden had one international referee.

Arriving at Nikola Tesla Airport, Beograd

Bengt Eversson and Hans Sundgren travelled together Monday September 10, starting from Västerås at 10.00. After leaving the car at Benstocken long time parking at Arlanda they entered the Air Berlin flight towards Beograd. They arrived 19.00 but had to wait until 24.00 before the transfer mini-bus started the trip to Kopaonik.

They arrived Tuesday morning at 05.00 and got access to the hotel room at 06.15. At this time the personnel was already preparing the breakfast...

September 11
After some hours sleep it was time to test the equipment on 3 test transmitters on both 3.5 and 144 MHz. The training area was close to the hotel.

Serbia and Kosovo

The hotel cluster was located just below the mountain facing Kosovo to the south. Hans and Bengt took the ski lift up to the mounting September 10 and inspecte the military site on the top.

The hotel room

Hans and Bengt stayed in an annex to the hotel. The room had one bed and one bed-sofa. Bengt is testing the 144 MHz receiver. The other photos show the annex from the inner garden and the room window facing south.

Bengt and Hans had some spare time before the bus arrived for transfer to the airport. They discovered that the lift was open and, as the only tourists, they bought a ticket.

The hotel made registration of arrival and departure.

Money was aquired by ATM at the airport. The slogan on the ATM receipt was a friendly remark: "THANK YOU FOR USING THE ATMS OF ALPHA BANK. TOGETHER WE HAVE A GREAT FUTURE."
